I put this site together in August of 2008 to help put others applying for italian dual citizenship.  Keep in mind, that the content on this *may*l focus on:

  • The SF Italain Consulate
  • Applying through your maternal grandfater
  • Appling through an ancestor that never naturalized and therefore requesting 'No Records' from various goverenment sources (which makes for a much harder time for your application as you'll need to hunt down more offices and have more paperwork.)

For U.S. Citizens applying for Italian Dual Citizenship via an Italian Ancestor.  You're eligible if:

  1. Your father was an Italian citizen at the time of your birth and you never renounced your right to Italian citizenship;
  2. Your mother was an Italian citizen at the time of your birth, you were born after January 1, 1948, and you never renounced your right to Italian citizenship;
  3. Your paternal grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of his birth, your father was born in the United States or a Country other than Italy, neither you nor your father ever renounced your right to the Italian citizenship;
  4. Your maternal grandfather was an Italian citizen at the time of her birth, your mother was born in the United States or a Country other than Italy, you were born after January 1, 1948 and neither you nor your mother ever renounced your right to Italian citizenship;
